Day 1: January 4, 2015
Yesterday I was inspired to begin a new and exciting journey to become healthy. With the help of my mentor, Natasha and friend, Matt, today I began to cleanse my body in the quest of becoming Pill-less. I am using this blog as a way of keeping "on-track" as I embark on this new journey.
It's funny. I typed in the word "pill-less" and, aside from looking funny (three l's) I discovered that it isn't a word. I checked with dictionary.com (my go-to place for definitions, spelling and synonyms) and the word doesn't exist. I think it's a great word...perhaps one that I have invented! But what I truly mean by pill-less is to no longer start each day by taking seven pills....for a variety of ailments which I am too young to experience.
At this point, I don't really have a recipe that I will use for this blog. I am not sure what I will include or exclude. Even as I am writing this initial blog, I am writing and erasing instantaneously. Should I include my weight (255lbs) or my fasting blood sugar (124). Will that even mean anything? I know that it won't develop a meaning until the numbers begin to decrease.
This morning I am taking my "before" photos at the suggestion of Natasha. I said to Maria this morning, "Does that really mean that I have to take a photo without a shirt on?" I haven't had a "topless" picture of me since 1986...and I am not even kidding. So, as a crusader in my pill-less quest, I broke down and posed for my first "topless" photo in nearly 30 years. And it was UGLY! However, I don't want to be disappointed later on, so I did it! For those of you who are curious as to what it looks like, I will post it next to my "after" photo in a few months.
I don't suspect that I will have time to blog every single day, but I will update my blog when time permits to fill you in on my quest to become pill-less. For now, I am off to live my life and pursue a life of being "pill-less!"
